What is this course about?
This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as intermediate level dancers in the live performance industry. Individuals are expected to demonstrate application of skills and knowledge for routine activities expected for dance and live performance contexts. The job roles that relate to this qualification may include ensemble dancer and prepare the learner for higher qualifications. This is an ideal qualification for secondary school students with unit of competency credits contributing to WACE score. All SCSA dates are met and communication with the school and VET coordinator is organised by Emergent Academy. This course steps up from the introductory qualifications of Certificate I and II in dance with a higher level of technique in a larger variety of genres is expected and introduced.
Is there homework in the course?
With any nationally recognised qualification there are both theoretical and practical components to complete. The students participate in guided theory classes to specifically teach the theory components within the course. The theory mentoring limits the amount of homework however as this course moves into more in depth content some homework is required. Each assessment is supported by the staff in our tailored classroom platform.
What is the course duration?
As this course is for primarily for secondary school dancers there are flexible options available to suit your schools policies and procedures. The course can be studied over one year with two days of tuition or two years with one day of tuition per year. This course is run over the four school terms. **There may be extra hours in performance rehearsal and performance times**
How do I pay for this course?
With a performing arts qualifications requiring private payment Emergent Academy offers flexible payment plans to allow for convenient payments throughout the study year. Financial hardship and Talent based scholarships are available on application.
What subjects are in the qualification?
Like any qualifications there are units to complete for certification. As the Certificate III is a pathway into higher levels of qualification the subject matter and content broadens. The subjects include several classes with the following components: Choreography, Industry, performance, conditioning [stretch and strength], jazz, classical hip hop, tap, lyrical, musical theatre and acrobatic techniques. You are not expected to be an expert in each subject, the course is to extend you in the subjects you excel and expose and improve subjects that you need further training.
